Introduction
Pres, also known as President, is a popular card game that is easy to learn and fun to play. It is typically played with a standard deck of 52 cards and can accommodate 4 to 8 players. The objective is to be the first to get rid of all your cards.
Rules
Setup
- Shuffle the deck and deal the entire deck to the players. Some players may have one more card than others.
- The game is played in rounds, and the first round's play order is determined by random choice or by the rank of players from a previous game.
Card Rankings
Cards are ranked from highest to lowest: 2 (highest), Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3 (lowest).
Gameplay
- The player who goes first can play any card or set of cards of the same rank.
- Subsequent players must play a higher card or set of cards of the same quantity, or pass.
- If all players pass, the last player to play a card starts a new round with any card or set of cards.
- The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the round and is designated as the "President" for the next round.
- The second player to finish is the "Vice President," the last player is the "Scum," and the second last is the "Vice Scum."
Special Rules
- In the next round, the President gives their two lowest cards to the Scum, and the Scum gives their two highest cards to the President.
- The Vice President gives their lowest card to the Vice Scum, and the Vice Scum gives their highest card to the Vice President.
- These trades happen before the next round begins.
How to Play
The game continues with the designated roles of President, Vice President, Vice Scum, and Scum until the players decide to stop. The goal is to maintain or improve your rank from round to round.
